Carbon Reduction Plan

London Laboratory Equipment Ltd

Publication date: 22 July 2026

Our Commitment to Net Zero

London Laboratory Equipment Ltd is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with our UK operations and achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.

Our Net Zero commitment covers our Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions associated with our operations and value chain. As a UK supplier of laboratory equipment and consumables, we recognise the importance of reducing the environmental impact of our business activities, supply chain and logistics operations.

This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our emissions baseline, emissions reporting methodology, Net Zero target, carbon reduction activities and ongoing sustainability programme.

About London Laboratory Equipment Ltd

London Laboratory Equipment Ltd is a UK company established in 2018 and based in Kingston upon Thames, London.

We import, distribute and supply laboratory equipment and consumables to customers across the United Kingdom. Our product range includes laboratory glassware, microscopes, digital microscopy cameras, liquid handling equipment, laboratory consumables and other scientific products.

We operate as a small UK business and take a proportionate, practical approach to sustainability. Our aim is to continuously improve the measurement of our environmental impact while implementing realistic and effective carbon reduction measures.

Our Net Zero Target

London Laboratory Equipment Ltd is publicly committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 at the latest.

Our Net Zero target applies to our United Kingdom operations and covers:

  • Scope 1 direct greenhouse gas emissions
  • Scope 2 indirect emissions from purchased energy
  • Relevant Scope 3 emissions associated with our operations and value chain

Our target is based on an absolute reduction approach rather than relying solely on emissions intensity measurements.

We will continue to improve the quality and completeness of our emissions data and review our carbon reduction pathway regularly to support progress towards our long-term Net Zero commitment.

Baseline Emissions

Our baseline year is 2023.

The baseline provides the reference point against which future emissions reductions can be measured.

Emissions category Baseline emissions
Scope 1 0.155 tCO2e
Scope 2 0.029 tCO2e
Scope 3 6.03 tCO2e
Total 6.213 tCO2e

Scope 3 categories considered include relevant upstream and downstream transportation and distribution, waste generated through operations, business travel and employee commuting.

We will continue to improve the completeness and accuracy of our Scope 3 emissions data as additional supplier, logistics and activity information becomes available.

Current Emissions Reporting

Our current reporting year is 2024.

Emissions category 2024 emissions
Scope 1 <0.150 tCO2e
Scope 2 0.029 tCO2e
Scope 3 <5.829 tCO2e
Total <6.008 tCO2e

These figures are used to monitor progress against our baseline emissions and to support the development of our carbon reduction programme.

Emissions Calculation Methodology

Our greenhouse gas emissions reporting follows the principles of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

We use appropriate UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors for company reporting together with available operational activity data.

Our emissions reporting includes:

  • Scope 1 direct emissions
  • Scope 2 purchased energy emissions
  • Relevant Scope 3 emissions associated with our operations and value chain

Where precise activity data is not currently available, reasonable estimates and supplier or service provider information may be used. We will continue to improve our data quality and measurement methodology as better information becomes available.

Carbon Reduction Targets

Our long-term target is to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050 at the latest for our UK operations.

As a near-term emissions reduction milestone, we aim to reduce our reported emissions from the 2024 level of less than 6.008 tCO2e to approximately 4.99 tCO2e by 2029.

This represents an estimated reduction of approximately 16.94% from our 2024 reported emissions level.

This near-term milestone supports our longer-term Net Zero commitment and will be reviewed as our emissions data and carbon reduction programme develop.

Carbon Reduction Activities

We are implementing and reviewing a range of practical environmental and carbon reduction measures. These include:

Lower-carbon logistics

We use lower-carbon logistics and courier services where commercially and operationally suitable and continue to review opportunities to reduce emissions associated with transportation and distribution.

Sustainable packaging

Where practicable, we use recyclable and recycled packaging materials and seek to reduce unnecessary plastic packaging.

Energy efficiency

We review opportunities to improve energy efficiency within our business operations and consider lower-carbon electricity options as our business develops.

Sustainable travel

We encourage public transport for employee commuting where practicable and use remote collaboration tools, including online meetings, to reduce unnecessary business travel.

Remote working

Where appropriate, remote working arrangements can help reduce commuting-related emissions.

Product reuse and refurbishment

Where feasible, returned products may be tested, refurbished or reused rather than being unnecessarily disposed of.

Supplier and logistics engagement

We continue to engage with relevant suppliers, logistics providers and service partners to improve emissions information and identify practical opportunities for carbon reduction.

Scope 3 Emissions Reduction Programme

Scope 3 emissions are important to our business because of our import, distribution and logistics activities. We will continue to improve our Scope 3 emissions measurement and reduction programme by:

  • Improving emissions data collection from logistics providers and suppliers
  • Reviewing relevant upstream and downstream transportation emissions
  • Improving information relating to purchased goods and services
  • Monitoring waste and business travel emissions
  • Considering employee commuting where applicable
  • Identifying lower-carbon alternatives where commercially and operationally practical
  • Engaging with suppliers and service providers regarding their own carbon reduction activities

Progress Monitoring and Governance

Progress against this Carbon Reduction Plan will be reviewed by company management. Our emissions data, carbon reduction activities and Net Zero pathway will be reviewed at least annually where practicable.

The plan may be updated as new emissions data becomes available, measurement methodologies improve, new carbon reduction opportunities are identified, or our business operations and supply chain develop.

The Carbon Reduction Plan and associated carbon reduction initiatives have been reviewed and approved at board level. The Managing Director is responsible for coordinating sustainability activities and monitoring progress against this plan.

Alignment with NHS Evergreen Sustainability Criteria

This Carbon Reduction Plan supports our participation in the NHS Evergreen Sustainable Supplier Assessment. Our sustainability approach includes:

  • Environmental and carbon reduction measures
  • Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions reporting
  • A UK geographical operational boundary
  • A public commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050 at the latest
  • Board-level approval
  • Greenhouse Gas Protocol-aligned emissions reporting
  • Ongoing emissions reduction and sustainability activities
  • Continued improvement of Scope 3 emissions data and reduction planning

Final Evergreen maturity scoring is determined by the information submitted through the NHS Evergreen Assessment and the applicable NHS England assessment methodology.
